About Randy
Randy has been serving our community in the Sheriff's department for 29 years.  He has been married to his wife Erika for 25 years.  Together they have 3 sons who were all raised in Petoskey and attended Petoskey Public Schools.  Randy is passionate about improving our comminty and keeping the residents safe.

As your potential sheriff, I am committed to upholding the legacy of excellence established by Sheriff Wallin and former Sheriff Bodzick in our department. My vision is to foster stronger connections with the wonderful people of Emmet County through increased in-person contact and community engagement. I pledge to prioritize the safety and well-being of our residents by implementing continued business and property checks, as well as ensuring timely follow-ups with victims to address any concerns they may have. Education and prevention are paramount to me, which is why I aim to enhance our presence in schools and advocate for more resource officers. Additionally, I am dedicated to providing ongoing training for our deputies to ensure they are well-prepared for their duties. Transparency and accessibility are key values of my administration. I promise to maintain an open-door policy, making myself readily available to listen and address the concerns of the public.Emmet County holds a special place in our hearts, and I am committed to preserving its greatness and making it the best it can be. Together, let's build a safer and stronger community for all.

Experience

-Joined Road Patrol in October 1994 -Promoted to Road Supervisor August 2002 -Promoted to Sergeant August 2005 -Promoted to Lieutenant January 2020

-Two time Deputy of the Year in 1998 and 2001 -Various certificate of achievement awards -Top fitness award in 2005 and 2007

Projects and Community Outreach

-Stonegarden Grant-assist in border patrol and protection -Vehicle Improvement of emmet county deputy vehicles -Expansion of road patrol building -Assisted in hiring processes of new deputies -Coached and served on Pop Warner Board (vice president) -Coached Petoskey Middle School Football
